Obituary For Ann Marie Ranck

On the morning of January 3rd, 2023, Ann Marie (Fees) Ranck, our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home in Ebensburg surrounded by the love of her family. Born on October 10th, 1940, in Spangler PA, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Arch and Mrs. Juliana (Connolly) Fees. Ann Marie attended Mount Aloysius Academy and continued her education at Saint Mary’s College, the sister school of the University of Notre Dame, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She was a lifelong fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish sports teams. During her college years, she received a National Science Foundation Award and was subsequently accepted to Temple University Medical School. Shortly after graduating, Ann Marie married her husband of 60 years, Dr. Miles E. Ranck III, and started their family, pausing her education until years later, when she attended Saint Francis College and earned a degree in education. She taught first grade at the Blacklick School district for several years. Ann Marie and Miles lovingly raised five children: Erin (Robert) Gebbie, Miles (Jackie) Ranck IV, Heidi (Michael) Brady, Halee (Sharon) Ranck, and Adrian (Jessica) Ranck. Ann Marie is the ever-loving proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Lea Gebbie, Miles Ranck V, Michael Brady II, Sadie Ranck, and Elizabeth Brady. Through her family, she lives on. Ann Marie is also survived by her two sisters Juliana (Kerry) Kirsch and Gretchen Kirsch, her sister-in-law Susan Fees, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ann Marie is preceded in death by her sister Connie Wychulis, brother Dr. Arch Fees, and brother-in-law Dr. Adam Wychulis. Ann Marie was the heart of our family and will be missed beyond words. Her unconditional love and unwavering support and encouragement of all her children and grandchildren made us all who we are today. Her beautiful traits, from her grace and elegance, to her hilarious sense of humor, sharp wit, and humbling intelligence will shine through for generations to come. She enjoyed playing boardgames and Jeopardy with her family into the late hours of the night. The music that she loved filled our home alongside the smell of her gourmet meals. Her love of flowers and all things beautiful allowed her to create beautiful garden landscapes throughout our yard. Although Ann Marie was of a scientific mind, her creativity knew no bounds, from designing and decorating her home, to writing award winning poetry, her talents have been passed to her children and grandchildren, evident by varying degrees, professions, and talents. She was also a lover of all animals, nurturing wounded birds and stray cats, one of whom found a permanent spot in her heart and home, her playful and mischievous cat, Dolly. Throughout her life, she kept several birds as companions. Forever birds will remind us of her. Her compassionate nature was also passed on to her children and grandchildren. Ann Marie had an immense faith and was a member of Saint Benedict Catholic Church. We will miss and cherish her for the rest of our days until we reunite. Private services will be held, and a catholic mass will be held at Saint Benedict Church, as well as an interment at Saint Benedict’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Ann Marie’s name to Saint Benedict Church in Carrolltown. The family wants to thank UPMC family hospice, especially Ann Marie’s nurse, Peggy, for the care and compassion during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank Father Michael of Saint Benedict Church. “...Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.” - Irish Prayer. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Carrolltown. Ann Marie was my neighbor in Ebensburg for several years and my daughter, Heidi, played with her children. I always admired Ann Marie - she was not only beautiful but also kind and compassionate. My sympathy to her beautiful family. Tina Delonga
