Obituary For Anne Busunis

Anne Francis (Maimone) Busunis, 100, of Elmora, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023. Anne was born on August 16, 1923 to Peter and Margaret Maimone in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. After Anne graduated, she remained at home to work at the Maimone’s family store. In 1965, Anne married the love of her life, August Busunis. Together, Anne and August had their two children, Margaret Anne and Thomas. Anne was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Peter Maimone, husband August, son Tom, sister Katherine “Tish” Berzonsky, brother-in-law Mark Bodenski, and brother-in-law Earl Berzonsky. Anne is survived by daughter Margaret Anne (Robert) Graham and sister Angeline “Pat” Bodenski. Anne was also survived by her nephews Michael and Peter Berzonsky, Michael, Greg, and Brian Bodinski as well as many great and great great nieces and nephews whom she greatly adored. Anne also had countless people who loved and cared for her including family, friends, neighbors, and caretakers. Anne was known for her excellent cooking, particularly her delicious Sunday spaghetti dinners gathered around loving family and friends. Everyone was welcomed with open arms into Anne’s home and no one left hungry. Anne’s house was a place where anyone could enter and feel at home. Anne loved reading and watching sports on T.V., especially if the Steelers or Penguins were playing. Anne was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Carrolltown. She spent her life serving our Lord in any way she could. Anne did not miss praying with the daily mass on television. Her relationship with the Lord is what made Anne such a loving person. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Benedict Catholic Church on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11:00 am, by Rev. Michael Gabler, OSB, followed by a luncheon in the church basement. All are welcome. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Carrolltown. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Anne’s memory.
