Carolyn A. Vermeulin, 81, Ashville formerly of Carrolltown, passed away February 2, 2025. She was born July 2, 1943 in Cresson the daughter of Kenneth and Edna (Chapman) Lee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emil E. Vermeulin Jr.; daughter Suzanne Snyder, son-in-law Jeff Wheeler, infant brother Donald Lee, brother Thomas Lee and brother-in-law Floyd Merideth. She is survived by her children Renee (John) Smith, Patton; Emil E. Vermeulin III, Patton; Paula Wheeler, White Springs, FL.; and son-in-law, Jerry Snyder (husband of Suzanne Snyder); 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; siblings Joyce Hopkins, Charlotte, NC; Jerry (Donna) Lee, Cresson; Betty (Gilbert) Perley, Austin, TX; Denise Merideth, Elgin, TX; Kenneth (Nancy) Lee, Lake Helen, FL; Sharon (Jim) Glenn, Lewisburg, PA; Charlotte (Bill) McKee, Marion Center, PA ; sister-in-law Gladys Lee (wife of Thomas Lee) and numerous nieces and nephews. Carolyn spent her life as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a dedicated member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Carrolltown and taught 2nd and 5th grade CCD for 15 years. She was also a member of Coal Country CB Club and Civil Defense Club. Family and friends will be received Friday February 7, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 146 N. Main St. Carrolltown. An additional viewing will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 in the Boniface Wimmer Room of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown from 9:00 am until the 10:00 am Funeral Mass at the church, Rev. Michael Gabler O.S.B. celebrant. Interment, church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to St. Benedict Church CCD program.
