Obituary For Catherine I. Kirsch

Catherine I. Kirsch

December 29, 1944 – May 2, 2026

Catherine I. Kirsch, 81, Carrolltown, passed away Saturday in Harrisburg surrounded by her daughter and son-in-law.

She was born in Spangler, daughter of the late Robert P. and Virginia (Weber) Cunningham. On August 21, 1965, she married Joel J. Kirsch who preceded her in death on August 24, 2013.

Catherine is survived by her daughter, Carlene (Lee) Farabaugh of Harrisburg; 2 grandchildren: Courtney (Ian) Moore of Wilmington, DE and Chelsea (Dave) Harvey of Morgantown, PA; 2 great-grandchildren: Gio and Turner Harvey; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Kirsch; a sister, Jean Pottiger; and nephew, Paul Pottiger.

Catherine was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.

She was a great Elvis fan and loved country music. Catherine enjoyed her many telephone conversations with close family and friends, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., 146 North Main Street, Carrolltown, PA 15722 where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

Additional visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Friday, May 8, 2026 at the Boniface Wimmer Room of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown. A funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately following at 11 a.m., Friday, May 8, 2026 with Fr. Michael Gabler OSB, Celebrant.

Committal will be at St. Benedict Church Cemetery, Carrolltown.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in Catherine’s memory.

    Catherine was a great gal. At Carol lunch we were all talking laughing about everything. I was not just friends but we were cousins and I loved her and her family dearly I miss all of them. She will be remembed by all of. Your mom was a very special friend I will keep her in my prayers as well as your family.
