Obituary For Clara Ann Fitzpatrick
Clara Ann Fitzpatrick, 81, Patton, passed away peacefully at her home in Patton on July 13, 2024. She was born on July 30, 1942 in Spangler, the eldest of seven children of her parents Lewis Jerome Yeckley and Clara Elizabeth (Krotendofer) Yeckley. In 1964, August 1st, she married Robert Fitzpatrick, with whom she gave birth to Bob in 1965 and Craig in 1973. Clara attended St. Benedict’s Grade School, John Carroll High School and then finished at Cambria Heights High School in 1961. She found employment at the Van Heusen Garment Factory in Patton, in which she worked for several years as a seamstress. Clara was very much involved in her community. She was a Committee Woman, Volunteer of the Patton Fire Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Queen of Peace, Irish Catholic Benevolent Union (ICBU). She donated her time to support community outreach programs to people in need providing meals sponsored by the local churches and support groups. She also generously supported local schools with fund drives and planned events. Clara supported local sports activities as a women’s softball coach for both adult and junior women’s softball leagues. She was a member of the Patton and Carrolltown Sportsman’s clubs. She also participated in and supported the Patton Cub Scouts. Clara had many hobbies and enjoyable activities. She was an excellent competitive bowler, avid fisherwoman, hunter, birdwatcher and an all-around outdoors person. She treasured her travels to places such as Lake Michigan, Muir Woods and the Gilroy Garlic festival in California. She was passionate about cooking and baking. She even founded an all-girl folk band called the “Gad Abouts”. Most of all, Clara loved her family and friends immensely and they in turn loved her.
