Obituary For David M. Burskey

David M. Burskey, 76, Carrolltown, passed away November 22, 2021 at UPMC Altoona. He was born June 27, 1945 in Spangler, the son of Joseph and Anna (Gwizdak) Burskey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, in infancy Krystyna Marie Burskey, sisters Barbara Fletcher and Gloria Charney. He is survived by children: Jessica (Randy) Brothers, Colver; David (Jessy) Burskey, Carrolltown; Matthew (Dana) Baum, Irvona; grandchildren: Tyler and Brianna Brothers; David and Alexandra Burskey; Kason and Kallista Baum; Karli and Kassidi Byerly; brothers and sister Joseph (Myra) Burskey; Frank (Bonnie) Burskey; Jerry (Lou) Burskey; Jeannie Stone and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Bishop Carroll. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. David was formerly employed at Barnes and Tucker Coal Company and was self-employed in the Natural Gas Industry. He was a member of the Carrolltown American Legion Post 506. David enjoyed playing piano, guitar, photography, riding motorcycles, singing, playing music with his friends and spending time with his grandchildren. He was one of the most generous people who ever lived and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Friends will be received from 2:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 146 North Main Street Carrolltown. Memorial Mass 10:00 am Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, by Rev. Michael Gabler, OSB. Committal church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Full military rites will be accorded by local veterans organizations.
