Obituary For Frederick "Fred" Shero

Frederick (Fred) Shero, 86, Carrolltown, passed away May 6, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 30, 1936 in Carrolltown, the son of Bernard and Helen (Baker) Shero. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon L. Shero. He is survived by his loving wife Jane (Illig) Shero; children Victoria M. (Richard) Kochinsky, Ebensburg; Diane L. (Martin) Westrick, Patton; grandchildren Matthew Westrick; Kasie (Jon) Patterson; Treine (Joshua) Selfridge; great grandchildren Trent Westrick; Roxxie Westrick; Brayden Patterson; Bentley Patterson; Christopher Patterson; Jackson Selfridge; brother Bob Shero, Levittown, and numerous nieces and nephews. He retired from the Cambria Heights School District after many years of service and previously worked at the Carrolltown Drive-In Theater, Long Lumber Mill, EBG Cabinet, Bethlem Steel in NY, Carrolltown Water Authority, volunteered at the Carrolltown Library, Carrolltown Park and help start the ambulance service. Fred was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Carrolltown, Carrolltown Fire Club, Holy Name Society, Carrolltown American Legion and The Order of the Eagles in Patton. Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday May 10, 2022 at Stevens Funeral Home Inc. 146 North Main St, Carrolltown, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday May 11, 2022 @ 10 am at St. Benedict Catholic Church, by Rev. Michael Gabler, OSB.     I am sorry for your loss. Fred was such a good man. Everything he did, he did well. He ran the custodial department at Cambria Heights like no other. He was a wonderful co-worker, a dear friend and a huge asset to our community. He will be sadly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Linda Hebert.
