Obituary For Helen Farabaugh

Helen (Washinsky) Farabaugh, 94, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Bakerton, passed away on October 1, 2023 at Garvey Manor. She was born July 18, 1929, in Bakerton, daughter of Matthew and Pazia (Stecko) Washinsky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Patrick J. "Esso" Farabaugh, sister Mary (Peter) Jovanis, brother Paul (Rose) Washinsky, and brother Nick Washinsky. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law Joe (Anna) Farabaugh, and sister-in-law Eileen (Bud) Link and Emma (Paul) Venesky. She is survived by her loving children Maria (Randy) Choby, Patton; Patty (Mike) Marine, Altoona; granddaughters: Erica (Kevin Soles) Jackson, Pittsburgh; Erin Choby, Patton; great-grandchildren: Avery & Reed Jackson and Zori & Alina Soles; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a former employee of the Bakerton Supply Company Store and helped manage her husband’s business, Pat's Exxon Station, for over 45 years. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Church, Bakerton, and a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown. She was also a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #8897. Family and friends will be received in the Boniface Wimmer Room at St. Benedict Catholic Church on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Mass at the church by Rev. Michael Gabler, OSB. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery, Bakerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Carrolltown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Garvey Manor Nursing Home, 1037 South Logan Blvd., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648 for their staff Good Samaritan Fund.
