Obituary For James A. Kelly
James A. Kelly, 85, Carrolltown passed away November 14, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 24, 1936 in Carrolltown, the son of Paul P. and Winifred (Love) Kelly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Kelly; brothers and sisters Thomas, John, Richard, Paul, Mary Lehmier, Clotilda Cerra, Elizabeth Stevens and Barbara Barnes. He is survived by his wife Bernadine J. (Lubert) Kelly, whom he married October 18, 1958; children: Joanne Gates and friend Ray, Hollidaysburg; James (Annette) Kelly, Carrolltown; Jeanette Kline, Carrolltown; John (Cathy) Kelly, Ohio; Jason Kelly, Carrolltown; grandchildren: Jenna (Arjvn) Jeganathan, Cierra Kline, Ashley (Matt) Bender, Jade Kline and friend Charlie Bradley, Brad (Sherry) Kelly, Melissa (James) Kane, John Michael (fiancée Bailey Kerns) Kelly, Jr.; great grandchildren: Amelia Grace Jeganathan, Layne, Layla, Matty Bender, Jaxxon, Jayci, Jett Kline, Lakin, Kendra, Breanna Kelly, Shane, Alannah and Claira Kane; sisters Pauline Maurer, Carrolltown; Sister Mary Jane Kelly, Seton Hill and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of John Carroll High School. He served in the U.S. Navy and was the owner and operator of Kelly Motors and Kelly Appliance. After retirement he was employed as an AIG Insurance Agent. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, lifetime member of the Carrolltown American Legion Post 506, lifetime member Carrolltown Fire Engine Company and lifetime member of the Carrolltown Businessman’s Club. Jim enjoyed playing the violin, accordion and playing horseshoes with friends and family, especially with his grandson Brad. At Jim’s request, there will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, November 19, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, by Rev. Michael Gabler, OSB. Interment St. Benedict Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Carrolltown. Full military rites will be accorded by local veterans.
