Obituary For James J. "Jim" Kline, Sr.
James J. “Jim” Kline, Sr., 80, Ebensburg, passed away July 12, 2022 at Miners Medical Center. He was born January 19, 1942, in East Carroll Twp., the son of Gerald T. and Edna R. (Yeckley) Kline. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Greta M. Kline, Patricia Gibson, brothers Donald and Ronald Kline, sisters-in-law Teresa, Regina, brother-in-law Eugene and son-in-law David Pomykal. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Rykola) Kline, whom he married May 7, 1966, children: Justine Kaelin, Carrolltown; James (Carolyn) Kline, Jr., Altoona; Anita Pomykal, Houston, TX; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Dr. Bernice Kline, Phoenix, AZ; Thomas Kline, Loretto; Judy (Jack) Colberg, Carrolltown; Bertha (Donald) Sell, Carrolltown; Veronica Rogal, Hastings; Anthony (Linda) Kline, Loretto; Timothy (Lois) Kline, Carrolltown; Claudia (Dave) Charney, St. Benedict; Fred (Sue) Kline, Loretto; brother-in-law Harry, Cherry Tree; sister-in-law Mary Ann and numerous nieces and nephews. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and retired as a coalminer after many years of service. Jim was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, Carrolltown American Legion Post 506, Carrolltown Fire Club and Carrolltown Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He also loved gardening, growing flowers, especially his lilies, going to Casinos and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends will be received 5:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 146 North Main Street Carrolltown, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Additional visitation will be held Saturday, in the Boniface Wimmer Room at St. Benedict Catholic Church, from 9:00 am until the 10:00 am Funeral Mass at the church, by Rev. Michael Gabler, OSB. Interment Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to IRMC Hillman Cancer Center 850 Hospital Road, Suite 1200 Indiana, Pa 15701 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 Full military rites will be accorded by local veterans organizations.
