Obituary For Judith "Judi-Bird" A. Eckenrode

Judith “Judi-Bird” Ann Eckenrode, 57, of Carrolltown, died August 22nd, 2022, after a long battle with tongue cancer. Judi was born in Spangler on May 16, 1965, the daughter of Richard and Donna (Lapina) Shero. She is leaving behind her beautiful mother and four wonderful sisters: Nancy Rezk, Barbie Sharbaugh, Suzi Brannock and Becky Shero. Judi was lucky enough to have lived (as an adult) with each one of her sisters when she needed that special love that only a sister can give and sadly each one of them will miss Judi’s magnificent cooking. Judi is hoping to be greeted at the Heavenly Gates by her dad, Dick Shero, who will most likely reprimand her for all her most recent lottery scratching; and also standing by, with his tail wagging, will be John and Judi’s dog, Cowher, waiting for his piece of bacon. Also left behind are many of her beautiful and kind nieces and nephews that lovingly nicknamed her Judi-Bird. Each one of them, from the newborn to the adults, filled her life with laughs and beautiful memories. Judi is survived by her sweet, caring and much younger husband of 23-26 years, John. (Judi could never remember exactly how many years of marriage they shared). When they met, John was her local bartender and at the end he was her Navy Captain. Together, always together, they explored the country where they drank, laughed, gambled and danced in their kitchen. At the request of the deceased, a private service will be held. Judi and John would like to thank the staff of 365 Hospice, especially Jen and Georgia, for their compassionate care in Judi’s final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Judi’s name may be made to San Diego Humane Society, where Cowher was rescued (visit https://www.sdhumane.org/support-us/ways-to-give/); Florida Keys SPCA, where her beloved cat, Buddha James, was rescued (visit https://fkspca.org/donate/ways-to-give/); or to your favorite local animal shelter or rescue. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Carrolltown. You may leave online condolences at www.stevensfamilyfuneralhomes.com or on our Stevens Family Funeral Homes Facebook page.

Dear John and Families, We're sending our hope that your love comforts you through this difficult journey. Sharon and Walter Sanders "She is Gone" by David Harkins "You can shed tears that she is gone Or you can smile because she has lived You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left Your heart can be empty because you can't see her Or you can be full of the love that you shared"
