Obituary For Malerie A. Butterworth

Malerie A. Butterworth, 77, of Pittsburgh, originally Elmora, passed away on Monday, July 27th, while a patient at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Born April 9, 1949 in Spangler, she was the daughter of the late Mario and Jean (Leslie) Cattoi.
She attended Cambria Heights High School in Carrolltown.
She began working at Northern Cambria School District as a Teacher’s Aid in 1989 in Barnesboro, where she found her calling working with children which she loved until she retired in 2021.
Survivors include one daughter, Kristin (Katherine) Butterworth of Pittsburgh; one granddaughter, Eleanor Butterworth, two sisters, Leslie Terza, and Jamie (David) Pedersen; and one brother, Mike (Becky) Cattoi. Malerie is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Malerie was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Charles L. (Charlie) Butterworth and by her sister Vicki Rae Cattoi and brother-in-law, Thomas Terza.
Family was very important to Malerie, she was a devoted mother, grandmother & aunt. An avid fan of tea parties and coloring with “her baby” Eleanor she also loved to be outdoors, specifically camping, attending sporting events and just being around those
she loved the most. She was an active member of Bakerton Methodist Church where she worshiped and found comfort her entire life.
Following Malerie’s wishes, there will be no services held.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Carrolltown.

    Kirstin - in working every day with your dad, I enjoyed getting to know your mom as well. What a wonderful person she was. Mom and dad are back together now and nit picking at each other again! Prayers are with you and Eleanor - Take Care and may god be with you.

    Kristin I worked with your mom in First grade at NC for many years. She was such a kind, loving, and caring person. She truly had a calling to work with Children. They loved her so much. I was just asking my coworkers on my Birthday SUNDAY about your mom because she was so missed by us at school. She often spoke about being a foster mom and then her greatest joy you! She was so proud if you. Never one did i ever hear her say an unkind word about anyone. I feel I learned to be a better teacher by working with her. She several times came with me to watch my daughter at Cambria.Heights in the musicals and plays. She was a wonderful person I will never forget. You will be in my prayers 🙏 ❤️
