Obituary For Richard J. "Dick" Maurer

Richard J. “Dick” Maurer, 94, Carrolltown passed away August 3, 2021, surrounded by his loving wife and family, at Cambria Care Medical Center, Ebensburg. He was born May 2, 1927 in Patton, the son of Frederick and Lucille (Bates) Maurer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Robert and sister Helen Paige. He is survived by his wife Pauline (Kelly) Maurer, whom he married August 16, 1952; children: Miriam “Mimi” F. Bradley, Hastings; Joseph F. (Paula) Maurer, Nicktown; Ann M. (Blane) Link, Patton; James A. Maurer, Nicktown; Teresa (Ron) Buterbaugh, Vinco; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Dick served in the US Army Air Force during World War II. He retired as owner and operator of Maurer TV Sales and Service in Carrolltown. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, Carrolltown Businessmen’s Club and a lifetime member of the Carrolltown American Legion Post 506. He enjoyed outdoor activities with his wife. Memorial Mass 10:00 am Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown by Rev. Michael Gabler, OSB. Interment church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to John Carroll Ambulance or Carrolltown Fire Engine Company. Full military rites will be accorded by local veterans organizations.
