Obituary For Thomas C. Hoover
Thomas C. Hoover, 82, Carrolltown, passed away August 8, 2023 at home. He was born September 4, 1940 in Patton, the son of E. Paul and Agnes (Smithbower) Hoover. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene C. (Weber) Hoover, brothers, Eugene in infancy, Richard, Albert and James. He is survived by his loving children: Wendy (Donnie) Moore, Bellwood; Debbie (Troy) McCullough, Duncansville; Sandy (Gregg) Young, Chest Springs, Brad (Kelly) Hoover, Cresson; grandchildren: Ryan & Jordan Moore, Nathan & Rachael McCullough, Savannah and Sierra Hoover, Olivia Hoover, Mason, Jack, Rachel and Taylor Young; brothers and sisters: Leroy Hoover, Patton; Elaine Vescovi, Patton; Corrin McHugh, Earlysville, VA; Mary Wilk, McKeesport; Robert Hoover, Patton and numerous nieces and nephews. He retired from C & C Smith Lumber Company, New Germany after many years of service. Tom was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, active member of the Parrish Council for many years and volunteered for many activities at the church. He enjoyed spending summers at his brother Bob’s Garden and at the Hoover family farm, playing cards, dancing and was very proud of his grandchildren and loved to tease them. Family and friends will be received 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 146 North Main Street Carrolltown, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Additional visitation will be held in the Boniface Wimmer Room at St. Benedict Catholic Church on Friday from 9:00 am until the 10:00 am Funeral Mass at the church, by Benedictine Fathers. Committal church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown or the Carmelite Monastery PO Box 57 Loretto, PA 15940.
