Obituary For Wayne C. Durbin, Sr.

Wayne C. Durbin, Sr., 88, Ebensburg, passed away May 20, 2023 at home. He was born March 24, 1935 in Cresson, the son of Ray and Leona (Griffin) Durbin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ray, Roy, Dean and Bill. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (Lotito) Durbin, whom he married October 29, 1951; children, Wayne (Judy) Durbin, Jr.; Beverly (Ed) Stasic; Robert (Mary Ann) Durbin; Barbara (Jim) Fagan; Nancy (Jim) Westrick; Sue (John) West; Ray Durbin; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; sister, Betty Barnes and numerous nieces and nephews. He retired as a coalminer from Barnes and Tucker. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown. Wayne was a devoted Catholic, a hard-working husband, father and grandfather who was proud of his family. He always would greet you with a smile and his joke of the day. Wayne loved being outdoors both hunting and fishing. His talent of being crafty allowed him to be able to fix or make anything. Pap Durbin was a true storyteller who captured everyone's heart with his many stories of his 88 years that were full of adventures. At Wayne’s request, there will be no viewing. A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 am Friday, May 26, 2023 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, by Rev. Michael Gabler, OSB. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery, Elmora. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Carrolltown.     Sincere condolences for the patriarch of the Durbin family. One of the last things I mentioned to him was that 'he would always be my Father-in Law.' But the last thing I told him was "I Love You.' Sad, Cheryl Durbin
