Obituary For William G. "Bill" Hunt
William G. “Bill” Hunt, 84, Elmora, passed away July 20, 2024 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. He was born October 25, 1939 in Spangler, the son of George W. and Nell (Augustine) Hunt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Weakland, brothers in law, Ed Weakland, Bill Bopp and nephews, Scott and Wayne Weakland. He is survived by his special friend, Esther Sclesky; sisters and brother, Beverly Bopp; Carl (Bonnie) Hunt; Debra (Bob) Zedek, all of Carrolltown and seven nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Carrolltown High School and served in the US Air Force as an Airman First Class. He retired as a carpenter from Corle Construction after many years of service. Bill was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, Carrolltown Fire Club, Carrolltown American Legion Post 506 and Carrolltown and Bakerton Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, gambling and was a great brother and uncle who was loved by his family. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, July 29, 2024 at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 146 North Main Street Carrolltown, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Additional visitation will be held in the Boniface Wimmer of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 9:00 am until the 10:00 am funeral Mass at the church, by Rev. Michael Gabler, OSB. Interment church cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by local veteran organizations.
